Privacy Policy
Sclearn turns your study notes into flashcards. This page explains what we collect, who we send it to, and how to get rid of it.
Who we are
Sclearn ("we", "us") operates the Sclearn mobile app. For any privacy question, email support@sclearn.app.
What we collect
Your account
When you sign up we store your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in a form we can read.
What you upload
The notes you paste, and the files you upload — PDFs, PowerPoint and Word documents, and photos of your notes — are stored in your own private area of our storage, readable only by your account. The flashcards generated from them, and your review history, are stored alongside them.
How you use the app
We record product analytics events: decks generated, study sessions started and completed, cards rated, games played, and whether the paywall was shown or dismissed. These are tied to your account so we can understand whether the app actually helps people study over time. We do not record the content of your cards in analytics.
What we do not collect
- Payment details. Subscriptions are billed by Apple. We never see your card number, and we could not charge you directly if we wanted to.
- Your location. The app never requests it.
- Your contacts, camera roll, or microphone, beyond the specific photo you choose to upload.
- Advertising identifiers. There are no ads and no ad tracking.
Who we send it to
We use a small number of processors. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.

About the AI processing
To generate flashcards, the text or file you submit is transmitted to Anthropic's API and processed there. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models. If a document is sensitive enough that you would not want it leaving your device, do not upload it.
Where your data lives
Our database and file storage are hosted in the United States. If you use Sclearn from outside the US, your data is transferred to and processed in the US.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Decks and uploads stay until you remove them or delete your account. Deleting a deck removes its cards and their review history.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from inside the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, uploaded files, decks, cards, streak and review history. It cannot be undone.
Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription, because Apple — not us — holds that subscription against your Apple ID. Cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions before or after deleting.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal data, and to object to some processing. The app's deletion feature covers erasure. For anything else, email support@sclearn.app and we will respond within 30 days.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Children
Sclearn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Uploads are stored in a private bucket with access rules that scope every file to the account that uploaded it, and database access is governed by row-level security so one account cannot read another's data. No system is perfectly secure, but access to your content is restricted by default rather than by convention.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
